Brachypelma emilia, also known as the Mexican redleg tarantula, is a species of tarantula native to Mexico. It is a medium-sized tarantula, with a leg span of up to 5 inches (12.7 cm). The body is black with red-orange hairs on the legs, giving it its distinctive name. These tarantulas are popular in the pet trade due to their striking appearance, docile temperament, and ease of care. They are known to be relatively long-lived, with a lifespan of up to 20 years in captivity. However, like all tarantulas, they do have venom and should be handled with caution.
